Access Information

Clothing StoreNo business, in our day and age would last long if they attempted to hang a sign in their window that announced "No Blacks Welcome." No business would attempt to defend such a practice. Yet time and time again we see steps, door that are too narrow or too hard to open, aisles of merchandise that are too close together, high counter tops and inaccessible bathrooms that all shout "No one with disabilities welcome." Then they wonder why we are angry. This is a civil rights issue that can't be ignored.

When we become aware of an ADA access violation we write a letter to the offending business and ask nicely if they will comply with the ADA. However, we only ask once. These are our rights. We will not be reduced to begging for them. We will fight for and enforce our rights and the laws that protect our rights. DRAC has some wonderful attorneys who believe passionately in this cause and who donate a great deal of their time and fees to insuring that we always settle for access. We cannot and will not be bought off. If you likewise believe that access is important, and if you believe that a business is not in compliance let us know! By clicking on the bars below you may download our forms, in PDF format, for evaluating the compliance of restaurants, businesses, department stores and convenience stores/gas stations. These forms will give you an overview of the most important ADA compliance issues. Once you have downloaded and filled out theJoe's Dinerform, please fax it to us at (801) 685-8216 or mail it to us at

**NOTE TO OUR RURAL CONSTITUENTS**   Your access problems are very real and important to us. However, our budget is quite small and we may need to wait until one of trained testers or attorneys are in your area and can confirm the violations such that we will be ready to go to court, if necessary. Please be patient.
